Best cadastral map app for iPhone? Start with country coverage

Use the official country portal for a direct cadastral reference. Consider Boundara when you also need an iPhone field record with supported parcel lookup, measurements and saved notes. This guide is published by Boundara’s developer, Eutopix Labs, rather than an independent reviewer.

Prepare before leaving mobile coverage

Check the country coverage and retrieve the parcel while connected. Save the result and confirm it can be reopened before travelling. A blank result may mean unsupported coverage or a temporarily unavailable source; it does not prove that no parcel exists.

Record the parcel identifier, source and retrieval date alongside your field notes. Compare the map with what you observe without treating GPS or a drawn line as a surveyed boundary.

Step by step

  1. Check the exact region. Boundara supports official sources in Spain, Italy, France, Poland, Czechia and the Netherlands, with country-specific gaps. Read the regional guide before paying; Spain excludes Navarra and the Basque Country.
  2. Compare with the official source. Look up a known parcel and compare its identifier and outline with the relevant official portal. A satellite fence line and a cadastral outline may differ.
  3. Try the field workflow. Three successful lookups and one saved parcel are free. Retrieve a known parcel while connected, save it, then check that it reopens before travelling.
  4. Decide whether Pro adds value. Choose the lifetime unlock if repeated lookups, saved field records and PDF, GeoJSON or KML exports are part of your work. A one-off browser lookup may not require a paid app.

Which option fits which job?

  • Official cadastral portal: start here for the country’s own map and reference information. Examples include Spain’s Sede Electrónica del Catastro and France’s cadastre.gouv.fr.
  • Boundara: consider it for an iPhone workflow combining retrieved parcel geometry with your own field notes, photos and approximate measurements. Source and retrieval date stay visible.
  • Other mapping apps: verify that their parcel layer actually covers your country. General navigation or satellite imagery alone does not establish cadastral coverage.
  • Comparison scope: the country guides describe the sources used by Boundara. This page is a selection checklist, not a claim that we tested every cadastral app.

Honest limits

Read this before relying on a result.

  • Retrieving a new parcel needs connectivity to the official service. Saved parcel records can be reopened offline; background imagery has separate availability.
  • Boundara does not establish legal boundaries or provide a survey, title certificate or ownership determination.
  • Source outages or missing coverage can produce an empty result. That does not prove the parcel does not exist.

Questions

Is a paid cadastral app necessary?

Not for every task. Try the relevant official portal first if you only need an occasional reference lookup. A paid field app is more useful when saved records, notes and exports save repeated work.

Is Boundara the same as Legal Land Locator?

No. Boundara works with supported European cadastral parcel sources. Legal Land Locator interprets supported U.S. PLSS and Canadian DLS/ATS descriptions for navigation estimates.

What should I check before choosing?

Confirm your country and local coverage, look up a known parcel, verify its source and retrieval date, and test the offline saved-record behavior you need.
